If I had to give advice to a person writing their first scientific research paper, 1. find a topic that interest you. 2, Narrow the topic down to specifics, 3. Go to the Kaplan Writing Center. Look up Writing Types and Tools and follow all the guidelines that are in the writing center. Identify your writing technique: is it brainstorming, Listing, Bubbling etc. etc., 4. Go to the Kaplan Library for most of your resources, Make an outline, 5.. Read your Kaplan Handbook on Writing, 6. Create a strong thesis statement and conclusion. 7. Make a First rough Draft, 8. There will be alot of editing and Revising. Remember to also include an Abstract. and submit the paper at least once to the Writing Center to see what they have to say. They are a great help to anyone writing a paper. That is all the advice I can give a newcomer. Good Luck.

End of the Third Term
I want everyone to know how much I have enjoyed communicating with you. We all worked hard in class and on our papers. I now know how Stephen King must have felt in the very beginning. I am actually proud of my paper "Failure to Identifying and Treat Hypertension in Children and Young Adults". It is not award winning but it is my masterpiece. I will miss each and everyone one of you. Keep on Blogging. Blog me in the future.

Last of the Revisions
Well, we are almost at the end of the term and the end of this class. It has been a challenge. Especially writing a research paper. I was always good in English class and writing papers. But that was years ago like 20+ years. I thought Compostion I was hard but this class was difficult. There were times that I felt like I was drowning. I learned alot about the techniques that one must always implement to be a good writer. Mind you, I have not mastered everything, but I may be better at it than I was before. Brainstorming, Listing, making an outline, peer review sessions, and the Paramedic Method of Revision are the techniques that I will never forget. I also plan to teach my sons, who will be starting college in the fall of 2012. They will have some idea about College Composition I. It has been alittle fun. I am going to keep my blog and hopefully we can all keep in touch in the future.

Revising
I have revised this paper until I am blue in the face. Guess what, it is starting to sound better.
I still have a few areas to fix but soon it will be a finished. I knew there were alot of revisions. I hope after all this work I will get a good grade.

Peer Review
I think peer reviews are a great help. I know when I was first confronted with peer review in Composition I, I was so afraid. I knew my paper was not bad, but it wasn't the greatest either. I felt everyone was either going to think it was awful or just no good at all. Well, I was wrong. My classmates were very kind and helpful. Their criticism was constructive, not mean. Personally, I can not wait until someone reads my rough draft and gives me criticism. The writing center is good to go to as well. Thank you for listening.

Post Drafting
I have spent the entire day rewriting my outline for this research paper. I am working on the rough draft too. I have rewritten this one outline 3 or 4 times. I am trying to get my key points in place and the supporting evidence. Then my conclusion wasn't strong enough. It lacked something. Is any one else out there having as much trouble as I am with there paper? Please respond. I feel like I am drowning.

My Prewriting Techniques
This week discussion board was on prewriting techniques that we used to develop our thesis statement. I used brainstorming, bubbling and a little listing. I think I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that my paper is on Hypertension in children and young adults. Using the techniques above, I came up Masked hypertension, white-coat hypertension and few other articles. I feel everyone that decides to write , should know about prewriting techniques. They are very helpful.

Plagiarism
I had an experience with plagiarism when I attended the Academy of the Holy Names in Silver Spring, MD. I was in 10th grade. We were taking our Biology Final. The girl cheated off my paper and also spelled every misspelled word the same way. Earlier, in the same year, I had written a paper. I laid it on my desk, and of course she went through it and copied some of my paragraphs without my knowledge. The end result was I was expelled from school. Her name was Lilly Becktell. Oh, I was found innocent, but there was a race issue brought up. Lilly was white, I am an American Indian mixed with Black. So my mother made sure Lilly got expelled as well.

Everyday Living
Today, I am not discussing my scientific research paper. I am going to talk about everyday life and the bumps and brusies one gets. Have you ever noticed that sometimes everything goes wrong all at once? Lately, I have been having the worst time in the history of people I feel. My father-in-law died, I think I mentioned this. Then my husbands job ran out of work after he returned from the funeral. Oh, his employer tried to fire him while he was on breavement leave in NC. I had to handle that. It has been a never ending stream of events. Like a roller coaster ride. You know what the funny part about all of this is? This is Life. There are ups and downs. You have to make the best of it. Kaplan University helps me to keep going, when I want to give up. My plans for my corporation are tied in with my degree. Plus, being able to talk to others is a big help. Thank you for listening.

Research Paper
Well everyone, I have found eleven (11) articles on Hypertension and on Undiagnosed Hypertension in children. I just fully realized that children are not being tested for hypertension. Doctors nor parents seem to think that children would be at risk for hypertension, unless they are obesed. That is not always the case. I will keep you posted on the information I find.

Writing a Scientific Research Paper
I have written papers before but for some reason I have a little fear of writing a scientific research paper. Is anyone else afraid of writing papers besides me?
